This is not a case of tit-for-tat genocides. The Bolshevik revolution and Government of the USSR was rife with Ukrainians - just not the followers of Konovalets and Petliura. Using starvation as a weapon of war is nothing new, and certainly not the unique story that's claimed by Ukrainian nationalists, to this day. If anything, it appears that any disparate starvation visited upon some parts of Ukraine, was being brought upon it, by the Soviet response to the rebellion of the OUN, and not some prejudice against Ukrainians. By contrast - ethnic cleansing and Genocide is a consistent through-line in Ukrainian Nationalist history and ideology, against all groups deemed insufficiently Ukrainian. The Holodomor myth, as told by Ukrainian Nationalists, is their own 'ID', being projected onto Russia.

"Holodomor" decontextualizes reality - and recontextualizes it into an Anti-Russian Revisionist narrative, popular with Ukrainian Ultra-Nationalist fascists - who have killed far more Ukrainians, by themselves, over time, than the number that they attribute to Russia. Granted, they didn't count many of the people that they deliberately murdered as Ukrainians...but going by the definition of those living within the territory currently called Ukraine - the numbers are pretty clear.
