I am Dutch born and able to read and speak the Dutch language. The Dutch Safety Board by legislation is not permitted to assign any blame to any party as its purpose is to obtain maximum cooperation with all parties involved to establish safety issues. I understand that the Safety Board had no business to refer to a possible location, etc, of any weapon that allegedly might have been used, and this I view was done as to be used for a guilt finding in a later investigation. In my submission I also explained that certain holes that looked like bullet holes actually were from rivets that were still visible on the beams and as such had been pulled through the body plates. I even recommended (with showing photos and drawing) a change of rivets, etc. Using countersink rivets obviously means the body plates are weaker whereas panhead rivets would avoid this. Obviously considering the body needing to be as smooth as possible I also showed how this could be as much as possible achieved despite using panhead rivets. I am very pleased that Michael raises the issue again because it is important that the truth should be known.
